Quintin

A very adventurous 16 year old boy, Quintin did it all: baseball, hunting, fishing, a true outdoorsman. Quintin was diagnosed with Metastatic Osteosarcoma and his dream was to go see a Chicago Cub game and stay in a luxury hotel like his favorite movie “Field of Dreams”. Thanks to Ryan Theriot, Quintin got to sit in the dugout before the game started, throw the first pitch at the game, visit the locker room and was given a signed baseball, Cub jacket and hat. He stayed in the Sheraton Chicago Hotel. Because of his love for shooting skeet an annual skeet shooting fundraiser will be organized in his memory and when asked where the proceeds to go, he named Dreams Come True. Quintin’s dream was granted the week of June 12 and on July 21 Quintin passed away. DCT received enough donations in his memory to do a dream for another child.

BRENNAN

How honored I am to have met this brave "Soldier": Private Brennan Daigle. When DCT heard about this brave young man who was told he had from two days to two weeks to live his mother asked if we did parties. I said yes, what kind: Surprise Army Birthday Party for his 10 year old birthday. Need I say we jumped on this ASAP and my high honor to Fort Polk of Louisiana for rushing all legal aspects to attend the surprise party. When Brennan was being inducted, need I say there was not a dry eye. This kid is so Army Strong; there were 41 from Fort Polk attending and 2 from the Lake Charles National Guard Army who brought the HUMVV, along with a gift from every soldier. Yes, it was a birthday party and there was an army cake, army decorations and GIFTS. No invitations were sent (did not have time to mail) but there were over 400 people at this party. Since the story hit Fort Polk Guardian and the internet Military from all over the world have been leaving Brennan messages on his facebook page: Brennan's Brigade.  Brennan has always wanted to be a soldier that was his dream and it did come true.  Also I want to mention that Mayor Chris Duncan made Brennan "Mayor for the Day" and gave him a key to the city.   As I write this which is 4 weeks after the doctor told Brennan he had 2 days to 2 weeks to live is still with us.  He knows he is going to meet Jesus and ready. He did tell his mom after one of his treatments that he wanted to go around the world to tell people about Jesus and because of the internet Brennan is reaching out to world and telling people about Jesus through his own experience. We never know what will come our way, but I pray we are all strong like Brennan. When he lost is sight in his right eye, since the tumor is agressively growing on the right side of his brain, he just told his mom that he will just have to see everything out of his left eye.  God Bless

CAROLINE

There is always a first and this dream request was a first for Dreams Come True and also for University of Santa Barbara.  DCT received the application for Caroline and once it was approved, Kendal, Samatha, and myself went to interview this young lady. I was so impressed with her, she felt she did not deserve a dream, she felt she was taking away from other kids. I told her, since age 11 you have had 3 recurrence of tumors and has had 3 surgeries and you never know what tomorrow brings, young lady you so deserve a dream.  After talking a while, Caroline said she would like to visit the Marine Biologist Department at the University of Santa Barbara because she wants to be a Marine Biologist and having searched on the internet, she sound this was the best school.  When Mr. Dan Need was contacted and was told the reason for phone call, Mr. Dan was very surprised that a young teenage girl would want a trip to his university when she could have gone anywhere.  All I requested was for someone to greet her and maybe show her around; the Universaity opened their doors and hearts to Caroline and her family. The family also go to do a whale watching tour, thanks to Mr. Dan for making the arrangements.  Caroline has memories for a life time and she is looking forward to attending the university. JESSI

If you are ever down and having a bad day, you need to talk to this young lady.  When I first met her she was a little shy for about a second or two and then her little personality just started shining and shining. She was drawing pictures and may I add, she does a very good job for a 7 year old, I was very impressed. When asked  questions,  she would answer and then come back with a question for us, she was just so delightful, so sincere.  When asked what she would like for her dream she said a pool, but then she said NO NO, a tree house.  We said great, we never had that request yet, so then I asked her how big is her tree.  OK, ready for this, she said I don't have a tree.  I just stopped and she had the biggest smile. She is correct, she does not have a tree. But, Jessi will have her tree house, thanks to a kind builder who told me no problem and he is excited to build this for her. Jessi is still undergoing treatments, but to talk to her, she is just okay and enjoying life and taking each day as a brand new day and to live it, what a GIRL !!!!
